The digital version of a board game I've been working on, this is an early prototype that I think is bug free.  The game uses proxy AI created images that will be replaced soon.  If you try it and find any issues please leave a comment, thanks!

Dust swirled and danced through the air caught in the eternal struggle between gravity and wind creating a haze that obscured the cowboy’s vision. Not that there was much to see in the canyon besides rock, more dust, and the blazingly hot sun. It wasn’t the heat that bothered him though, there was something else, something that just felt wrong, and he didn’t like it. Reaching down he pulled his six-gun halfway out and let it slide back in, loosening just in case. He had to get to town, and the only way to do that was to follow the canyon to its end, and so he started walking. Looking around he saw pile of wood and canvas, the remains of the chuck wagon. He almost walked past it when he remembered the sacks of gold from the cattle sale they had just made, and he wondered if maybe one of those sacks were hidden somewhere in that pile of wood. After all he was entitled to some of that money as part of his pay for the last six weeks, it was only fair. His hand was halfway toward the first board when a sound behind him made him spin around, his pistol appeared in his hand before he was aware he’d even drawn it. His every nerve jumping he scanned the area searching for the source of the sound. Then he saw it, or rather him. It was Bill Higgins, another cowboy from the cattle drive, and a good friend. “Almost plugged ya there Bill, you should know better than sneak up on a man.” he called, but Bill didn’t answer just took a couple of staggering steps forward. The cowboy stopped his arm on its way to re-holster the pistol, something wasn’t right. That feeling was coming on even stronger now. “You ok Bill?” Bill stopped as he came into the light and the cowboy gasped, taking a step back. Whatever that thing had been it wasn’t Bill, not anymore. Its eyes were pale lifeless orbs, the skin a pale green with streaks of darker green running through it, the teeth were abnormally long, and yellow puss ran from the corner of its mouth. It hissed at the cowboy and rushed towards him. The cowboy fired, the bullet catching the creature square in the forehead, the impact throwing it backwards. It lay there twitching as the echo of the gunshot faded away. When silence returned the cowboy heard new sounds of hissing and snarling, and what sounded like a combination of a wolf ’s howl and a tortured scream. Worst of all the sounds were getting closer. The cowboy turned to run, when his eye caught sight of a white sack poking out from under the lumber with a hint of gold coming from within. The cowboy froze as his mind fought between greed and survival, knowing the longer he took to decide the less likely he’d have any choice at all.
